Wine Cooler Repair

Dual-zone wine storage that will not hold a setpoint — drifting zones, condensation on the glass, noisy evaporator fans and dead zone sensors.

What people describe on the phone

If one of these is close to what your unit is doing, it is a fault we see regularly and one with a known route to a fix.

  • Upper zone sits three or four degrees above where it is set
  • Condensation forming on the inside of the glass door in warm weather
  • Fan noise that rises and falls at random through the evening
  • Display shows a zone error and both compartments drift together

How the visit runs

  1. Both zones, logged

Each zone read independently over a cycle with the door shut — the display is not evidence.

  2. Sensors before compressors

Zone thermistors and their wiring are tested first. A drifting zone is a sensor fault far more often than a cooling failure.

  3. Evaporator and fan

Fan motor, mount and evaporator condition checked; intermittent noise is usually a bearing or a loose shroud.

  4. Door, seal and glass

Gasket, hinge alignment and glass heater checked, which is where interior condensation nearly always begins.

What it costs

A range before we come, a firm number before we start

Flat $89 service call covering the visit and full diagnosis, credited against the repair once you approve it.

The ranges below are the repair itself — parts and labour, done in the cabinet. Where a job lands inside its range depends on the model, the part and how much of the kitchen has to come apart to reach it.

You get the figure for your unit in writing once the diagnosis is finished and before any work begins. Nothing is ordered and nothing is opened until you have agreed to it.

Door gasket or seal replacement
$280–$640
Evaporator or condenser fan motor
$310–$700
Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor
$290–$640
Ice maker, water valve or supply line
$260–$860
Electronic control board
$430–$890
Compressor or sealed-system repair
$1,340–$3,120

For comparison A comparable built-in replacement, before installation and cabinetry work, sits at $11,680–$23,070. That is the sum worth holding a repair against before anyone writes a cabinet off, and it is why we price the repair first.

What the callbacks sound like

5.0 / 51,090 reviews

  • Upper zone had been sitting three or four degrees above its setpoint since spring. Zone thermistor, replaced on the spot, and both zones have held ever since. He reset the offsets someone had fiddled with.

  • The cabinet had never really held temperature since the day it went in. He worked out that the problem was the room and not the unit: no clearance above it, and the air return blocked by shelving.

    Juniper A.Rolling Bay · Oct 2025
  • In warm weather the inside of the glass door fogged up so badly you could not read a label. The door heater had failed and the gasket was flat on the hinge side. Both replaced in one visit.
